Every child dreams of a birthday party with friends and family, complete with treats, games, and, of course, a delicious cake. Preparing such a birthday is a real logistical challenge! How do you meet the demands of the toughest critic – your little one – without losing your mind? You're probably wondering, but don't worry – you've got us, and we're here to help.

Where to begin? The best place to start is by tearing your hair out, but once you've navigated that moment, think about the event's theme. Of course, a party doesn't have to have a theme, but it certainly makes planning a lot easier. Consider things like:
Great! You know the answers to the above questions and are probably brimming with ideas already, but if not, just in case, here are a few suggestions from us.
Style: White and navy stripes, hats for little guests, fish, wave motifs, sailing ropes.
Game suggestions: A ball pit with blue balls or an inflatable paddling pool with paper boats to 'fish' for.
Style: Eye patches, fake parrots, exotic plants, and treasure chests.
Game suggestions: Any obstacle courses or a swing made from a tyre.
Style: Paper crowns, wooden swords, tassels, a majestic throne, textures imitating stone or brick.
Game suggestions: A rocking horse, learning to dance the polonaise, ring-a-ring o'roses, target practice.
Style: Headdresses, teepees, colourful feathers and bead decorations, animal motifs.
Game suggestions: An evening bonfire, hide-and-seek, tag, face painting.
Once you've chosen a theme, it's time for the menu! Think about what snacks you can serve to your little gourmands. Children love sweets and ice cream, but instead of buying ready-made products, try preparing them yourself – they'll be healthier, and the little sweet tooths won't notice the difference. You'll find baking and decorating accessories for sweets very useful. You can even get your child involved in the kitchen fun – cooking together is great entertainment (and a bit more tidying up later). We've written about how to get your little one to befriend cooking here: How to Encourage Your Child to Help in the Kitchen.
Try baking a cake yourself, too. Believe me, it's not as hard as it sounds, and you'll earn +100 respect points in your child's eyes, so it's well worth the candle (and not just the candle on the delicious cake!). We offer tips on how to bake a cake in our Magazine: How to Conjure Up a Birthday Cake for Your Child?
Or perhaps you could bake a pizza? Homemade pizza will win over every little gourmand's palate, and you can even prepare it on a spelt base for a healthier option.

You've got your menu planned, and that brings us to the next question: what will you serve the food on? Make sure that children's tableware is not only aesthetically pleasing but, most importantly, durable, unless you fancy spending half the party picking up shattered glass or ceramics from the floor. For little ones, unbreakable tableware made from melamine, resin, or bamboo will be the best choice. Fortunately, at FormAdore, you'll find children's cups, children's plates and bowls, and children's cutlery that look lovely and can withstand many encounters with the boundless energy of children.

What would a birthday party be without special decorations? Regardless of whether you opt for one of our brilliant ideas or choose a theme-free option, balloons and garlands are a must. Remember, birthdays are still exciting in childhood (less so as we get older), so show your little one that they're special and that you recognise the importance of this day. Colourful decorations and imaginative children's furniture will put the kids in a joyful mood, create a wonderful atmosphere, and look fantastic in those keepsake photos you'll later bombard the family with.
Once the scene is set, it's time for entertainment. Games and activities will keep the children occupied, and provide you with a moment of relative peace – not that you can count on much more! Stick to classics like games and activities, tag, charades, or toy car races, as well as installations like a tent or a sandbox, which will inspire children to engage in more creative play than any adult could ever dream up.
You have everything you need to organise the party, but actually, the celebration would go ahead even without some of these elements. There's just one thing you absolutely must not forget if you want to avoid a flood of tears: a present. The dream gift should reflect the child's interests and be robustly made to survive more than one play session. Say no to plastic tat and choose a stylish wooden toy. Check out the Kids Concept range; you'll fall in love with their items just like your child, and perhaps playing together will be as much fun for you as it is for your little one: Retro for Little Ones. Adorable Gifts from Kids Concept.
Preschoolers and school-aged children will appreciate more educational gifts, such as books or board games. Check out our suggestions here: Educational Gifts for the Little Ones.
We've helped as much as we possibly could. Now it's your turn. Have fun and remember, the next birthday is a whole year away! :)
