The story of the Thermos brand began in 1892 when the brilliant Scottish scientist, Sir James Dewar, invented the vacuum flask. He simply wanted to maintain a stable temperature for his chemical experiments – just a scientific necessity! He came up with the idea of placing one glass bottle inside another, then evacuating the space between them to create a partial vacuum. And so, the thermos was born, initially serving only scientific purposes.

The real magic began, however, when Reinhold Burger, a skilled glassblower working for Dewar, along with his partner, Albert Aschenbrenner, saw the enormous potential of this discovery for everyday life. In 1903, they patented the vacuum vessel in a new, super-durable metal casing, perfect for home use. A year later, they announced a competition to name this revolutionary product.

The winner, a local resident, suggested the word "Thermos," which comes from the Greek "thérmē" meaning heat. A bullseye! The Thermos brand began its journey around the world, and its products, which became an indispensable part of the equipment for adventurers, travelers, and all of us, quickly conquered the market. From the very beginning, the Thermos brand has continuously strived for perfection. One of its greatest achievements was the introduction of the world's first stainless steel vacuum bottle in 1966. • 1950s: Thermos launched its first steel lunch boxes featuring the popular cowboy, Roy Rogers. Over 2 million were sold in the first year! From then on, lunch boxes with favorite characters became an absolute hit, and Thermos forever etched its name in pop culture.
• 1985: The debut of the Thermos Coffee Butler, a vacuum insulated carafe, which quickly became one of the best-selling household products in North America.
