A brief history of the plate
The plate - an essential piece of tableware and setting for any modern table - has not always been an item present at prehistoric fireside dinners or even Roman feasts. In ancient Rome, for example, liquid foods were eaten with a spoon-like object, while other foods were eaten by hand. There was a reason why the Romans lay down on one side. They needed their other hand to reach for the food and eat it with just their hand! Plates were a luxury that only a few could once afford.... Fortunately, times have changed and today we can not only eat every meal on a plate, but also choose the size, colour and material of the plate.
Flat and deep plates
As there is no dinner without plates, no beautifully set table without plates, not to mention milk and cereal without a plate, it is worth ensuring that your kitchen and dining area is equipped with beautiful, elegant, modern or colourful plates that stimulate appetite and a hunger for beautiful design. These are precisely the plates that are on offer at FormAdore. There is plenty to choose from and what to put them on! Flat plates, because FormAdore offers the largest number of them, can be divided mainly according to their size and thus their 'shelf life'. The smallest ones are suitable as dessert plates - for cakes, pies or as plates for starters. The medium ones, depending on your preference, will be ideal as breakfast plates, dessert plates, fruit plates or sandwich plates. The largest, dinner plates, on the other hand, will form the basis of the table setting for a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner, family parties and evenings out with friends, and in some cases they can also serve as serving platters for cold meats, cakes or fruit. The following category also includes deep plates - perfect for pastas, salads and, of course, the classic broth, mum's tomato soup, cream soups or fruit soups.
Fancy and modern plates
The collection of plates includes both elements of larger porcelain tableware collections and individual designs that are stunning in form, material or colour (there are plates with a cactus, palm tree, owl, fox or even the first letter of your name!). Oval, square or rectangular plates are an interesting alternative to the classic round forms and make your table setting extraordinarily original and modern. Colourful plates are ideal for garden parties, barbecues and children's parties. Plastic plates will solve the problem of losing the family china during lunch on the terrace. Plates with Sicilian motifs will take you back to delicious Italy just by looking at them, while Iittala colour plates with fabulous old motifs will enchant your guests to such an extent that they will stop paying attention to what is actually on the plates. Also noteworthy are the plates from the Hybrid collection by Seletti, which combine not only motifs from different eras, but also cultures, countries and even continents - and all on one plate! We also have this and that for lovers of classics and white porcelain plates. Flat and deep plates from the Grand Cru collection, as well as many collections from the Italian happiness factory - the Alessi brand - are sure to appeal to them. Treat yourself to a table with a plate in the starring role!
