Key keeper and stylish accessory
Designers working in the field of interior accessory design occasionally indulge a little fantasy and use their creative resources to design objects and accessories of a more personal nature. Such is the genesis of key rings by global design stars such as Stefano Giovannoni and Frederic Gooris. The designer key ring becomes more than just a guardian of our keys, becoming a fully-fledged accessory for everyday styling.
Fancy forms
Key rings are that part of personal accessories whose function is uncomplicated, so their form can be fully decorative. So designers are outdoing themselves in offering us unusual shapes to distinguish and personalise our keys. A heart, a car or perhaps an animal?
Take the Pip keyring from Alessi, for example... It refers in form to the motif of the popular "cat" bag hanger from the Italian brand's catalogue and is shaped like a cute mouse. Made of high-gloss polished stainless steel, it is extremely striking.
The Kia pendant, on the other hand, is a modern key fob that responds to the technologisation of life and is ideal for men and those constantly on the move. It features a microUSB, 30-pin and Lightning connector to connect your mobile phone to your laptop.
The Stackers fob in the form of a fancy clutch, which fits into travel jewellery boxes, will please women with a taste for elegant pastel accessories.
Different materials
As well as being decorative, a key ring should be able to withstand knocks and scratches. It is therefore important that it is made of a material resistant to these factors such as metal, resin, steel or eco-leather. In addition, it can be covered in coloured enamel and have additional features such as a USB connector or LED light.
The only problem becomes choosing what best suits our style or that of the person we want to decoupage with such a key ring.
