Karst stone paper - for the love of trees and the environment

We could kill trees too. But why should we have to? - the founders of the Karst brand said one day. That's how environmentally friendly notebooks were born... out of paper made from stone. No tree was affected in its production! Nor was the ecosystem affected, because the production process is extremely ecological. You want to know more about this paper revolution? Come and read it!

From stone to paper

The history of the Karst brand is not long, which is a perfect proof that even in a short time you can create great things! The creators have asked themselves one important question:

Is it possible to produce paper without damaging the trees?

That may sound like a fantasy, but not for Karst... ...who thought it is indeed possible. How come? You can produce paper out of stone! More specifically, out of recycled calcium carbonate. The company uses stones, which are a waste from the mining and construction industries, breaks them down into powder and mixes them with a non-toxic, natural binder (resin). This creates the unique paper used for Karst notebooks - minimalist, elegant and simply beautiful. And FormAdore has them on offer as one of the first stores in Europe!

When less is better

The process of producing stone paper proves that less is better. More specifically:

  • the carbon footprint is up to 60% less than in the manufacture of cellulose paper;
  • the process of making stone paper does not even use a drop of water;
  • you don't need bleaches, acids, toxins or, of course, trees;
  • no waste is produced in the process.

Even pencils of this brand were made without the use of wood - they are entirely made of graphite. What's more, Karst is donating part of its profits to the One Tree Planted Foundation. So when you buy a notebook, you not only don't contribute to the felling of trees, you also finance the planting of new ones. Could it be better? Maybe when we add that the production process is partly solar-powered!

Karst writes history on stone paper. No water, no trees, no toxic substances... This is better for you, for the environment and for the paper itself, because its stone version has some unusual, additional properties.

Stone paper withstands everything

Features

Apparently the paper is patient and will accept everything, but when it comes to stone paper, you can take this assurance literally. Karst paper is hard to tear, it is smooth, bright and durable, and yet... waterproof. So if you accidentally pour water onto your notebook, you don't have to worry about anything - just wipe the pages (we checked it)!

Okay, what happens when you want to throw away your notebook? This paper is fully recyclable, but if it lands in a landfill, it will be fully decomposed in the sun in just 12 months. Who would have thought that the green revolution could start with stone!
