Dreaming of an outdoor cinema straight out of an American movie? Here are some inspirations.

We have good news. Organising an open-air screening is a piece of cake. Contrary to appearances, the most challenging part is... choosing the film. Start thinking about it now, even before you begin faffing with the projector. Seriously – reconciling the cinematic tastes of a dozen people is a challenge that can bring you out in a cold sweat.

It turns out that Mirek was set on a Mr. Bean comedy, while Karolina was convinced you'd be showing a Haneke drama; Stasiek will suggest the cult classic "Rubber", and Sylwia will confess she's been dreaming of a "Friends" marathon for ages.

Feeling a bit antsy? Quite right too.

Fortunately, there's one thing you needn't worry about. Leave the organisation of the perfect outdoor cinema setup to us. In the Magazine below, you'll find a handful of inspirations and practical ideas that will make every screening under the stars a roaring success.

P.S. But before you dive in, give Mirek, Karolina, Stasiek, and Sylwia a ring.

1. Sort out the technical bits

Film already chosen? Right, we'll take your word for it. Let's move on. At FormAdore, we don't stock projectors or sound equipment, so you'll have to look elsewhere for those bits and bobs. However, we can certainly inspire you when it comes to the screen! So, what can you use as a screen for an outdoor summer cinema in your garden?

  1. A white bedsheet. This will work perfectly as a screen. Just make sure it's REALLY white and free of patterns. Hang it up on strings between trees. Try to ensure it has no creases or wrinkles, otherwise, you won't recognise the actors!
  2. A wall. The wall of your house or your neighbour's (just ask them first if you can borrow a bit of their house, or even better, invite them to the screening straight away!).

Are you a bit of a perfectionist? Okay, we respect that. But in that case, your only option is to buy a professional projector screen!

2. An atmosphere straight out of an American movie ♥

Fairy lights strung up under the open sky are a sight that never gets old, much like the cult dialogues from "Pulp Fiction". Your summer garden cinema absolutely cannot be without lights and twinkly bits! A "WOW" effect is guaranteed, and if you really put your back into it, who knows, perhaps the audience will be more captivated by the ambience of your outdoor cinema than by the visuals from "The Lord of the Rings"?

Our garden decorations and garden torches will help you set the mood. It's also a good idea to set up some lanterns and lamps (remember to bring them indoors after the screening).

3. As comfortable as... the cinema

Multiplexes may lack a certain je ne sais quoi, but let's not kid ourselves – they do have genuinely comfortable seats. You absolutely must ensure your audience's comfort. Surely, you don't want a romantic scene between Simba and Nala to be interrupted by the creaking of chairs and the grumbles of restless guests? At FormAdore, you'll find plenty of comfy outdoor pouffes and garden furniture; and if you're thinking of setting up a VIP area, super-comfy hammocks would be the perfect addition :)

Don't forget the essential accessories that will make your outdoor cinema feel cosier: garden cushions and throws and blankets. Make sure your summer cinema is as snug as a bug in a rug – or rather, as comfy as riding on Falkor's back ♥

4. Popcorn and beyond

A cinema under the stars really works up an appetite. Prepare snacks for your audience and, of course, popcorn. You can draw inspiration from our picnic snack ideas, which we've dedicated an entire Magazine to – such a simple menu will work wonderfully for an outdoor cinema too.

Please note! Plastic dishes will be more practical outdoors – for example, from the Crystal collection.
