The Nut Splitter was designed by Jim Hannon-Tan at the Ethics and Design workshop in July 2007. The nut opener is simply sandwiched between the two halves of the shell and twisted. The nut will open and we get its two intact parts. The opener was inspired by the shape of a maple seed, symbolising freedom and unity.
