La Stanza dello Scirocco's product designs are the result of the work of Mario Trimarchi. In designing the platters, baskets and bowls, the designer was inspired by the magical atmosphere of waiting in old Sicilian houses, rooms used to wait out the spring and autumn winds carrying dust from Africa. The rooms in question have no windows and often only a single source of light. Hence, Mario Trimarchi placed great emphasis on the play of light and shadow in his designs. The objects that make up the collection are based on rectangular pieces of steel joined together in the desired shapes. The raw designs are eye-catching, spreading an abstract aura around them.
The basket on display was created with fruit in mind. Two lacquered versions and one created in polished stainless steel are available.
