Fountain pen or rollerball? Or perhaps a ballpoint pen? This choice is worth considering carefully. A nice appearance, although important, should not be the only determinant of the purchase. Our lifestyle, the way we write and even our love of tradition also count.
It is said that nothing is eternal. However, there is something that has been synonymous with style and elegance for centuries. Original design, ornamented nibs and attention to detail all make fountain pens an indispensable companion for those who value good style and elegance.
Writing with a pen ...
...requires concentration, so you make fewer mistakes. In the past, fountain pens were compulsory items in school pencil cases and were used by pupils beginning their writing adventure. Unfortunately, the times of compulsory calligraphy are over, and with them, the ability to use this unique tool is disappearing. This is because writing with a fountain pen requires control of the hand and fingers as well as a developed fluidity of movement. The precision nib also requires the right amount of pressure.
A moment's inattention, one careless movement and... a blot!
A fountain pen requires some practice and is therefore recommended for adults rather than children. Filling in ink or changing cartridges could cause additional difficulties for the youngest...
Below is a summary of the advantages and disadvantages of a fountain pen.

Ballpoint pens...
Their appearance caused quite a stir among lovers of classic fountain pens. Sentimentalists attached to tradition view the nibless mechanism as not a pen, but a ballpoint pen. However, rollerball pens have also gained a huge number of fans, mainly because of their comfort. Writing with a biro is not subject to the risk of stains or smudges. It does not get your hands dirty and the ink does not run out of its nooks and crannies. Taking quick notes at school or university is no problem.
However, we still have to remember to change the ink cartridge!
Now let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of the biros:

A convenient and lightweight pen will fit into any handbag or even your pocket. When you buy one, for example from the popular paper brand Semikolon, you can choose the colour you wish to write with - the colour palette is much richer than for the inks used in pens.
The ballpoint pen allows us to write on many surfaces - both slippery and rough. Its advantage is also its price - they are usually much cheaper than pens. However, we should remember that they apply ink much more poorly than pens and also tend to jam. Nevertheless, a convenient pen will come in handy for us all, especially the busiest of us - journalists, reporters, writers, copywriters - who, at any minute of the day (and night!), may have an influx of inspiration that they need to get onto paper as quickly as possible.
Popular pens therefore have many advantages, but they are not without disadvantages.

The last disadvantage does not apply to all pens! There are elegant pens that are just as much fun to use as writing with a fountain pen. Check out the brands Semikolon, Lamy or Moleskine.
