This is precisely the situation that inspired the designer of the Air spreading knife presented here to create an accessory that defies the force of gravity and the curse of the slippery butter dish. This is because the Air knife - available in natural pear wood or polished stainless steel (or PVD-coated brass) and in two sizes - is balanced and shaped in such a way that it does not need to rest on the edge of a butter dish, the rim of a jar or saucer. A well-balanced and shaped handle with a wide, flat base on which the knife rests keeps the nicely shaped knife blade up, preventing slippery situations and unforeseen accidents.
