The
Dressed tableware series is another addition to the
Spring/Summer 2011 collection, designed by
Marcel Wanders and is part of the Alessi catalogue. Dutch-born Marcel Wanders has made
'new decoration' one of his trademarks, using decoration in
unconventional ways and often applying it in
unusual places, sometimes completely out of sight of the users. This unusual approach makes interacting with the Dutchman's objects a
multi-sensory experience - including the tactile sensibility of the material. The series containing tableware has been named
Dressed in reference to the decoration, which, like a beautiful dress, should be designed to
best display the contents without being too overbearing. Marcel Wanders' designs are
rich and
expressive and combine
floral motifs with
baroque glamour, but the collection remains
elegant and
light thanks to the
contrast between background and decoration highlighted by the differentiation between relief and shiny undecorated surfaces. The
Dressed collection includes crockery, tea and coffee service, crystal glasses, forged decorated steel cutlery, a tray, a plate holder and glass and bottle holders made of 18/10 stainless steel.
Dressed cutlery is available both in
sets and
individually. Decorated by the
forging method, they combine elegance with
high quality. A large number of
specialised cutlery is available in the Dressed cutlery series.
