Stelton

Steallan and Carton were friends who decided to join forces (and names!) to create one of Denmark's most recognisable consumer design brands - the Stelton brand. It is possible that the venture would not have been so successful had it not been for the godfather of the managing director. This was one of Denmark's greatest designers, Arne Jacobsen. At the urging of his godfather, he designed a line of coffee and tea accessories. The collection was characterised by cylindrical shapes, made of top-quality brushed stainless steel and black plastic handles. The simplicity of the Cylina-Line collection was a stark contrast to the rounded forms popular at the time, and the culmination of the collection's success was the ID Prize it won in 1967.

Also contributing to the development of the Stelton brand was Peter Holmblad's collaboration of over 30 years with another great name in the design world , Erik Magnussen, which resulted in many immortal designs from the brand's catalogue - including the famous thermos, the brand's flagship product. Since 2004, partly under new ownership and partly due to changing trends, the brand has enriched its catalogue with new forms (although the cylindrical shape remains its trademark) and new lines - including the Danish Modern 2 .0 collection, a modern interpretation of products that have historically been part of the Danish design canon.

Stelton's vision is to become the most innovative, trend-setting home furnishings brand guided by Scandinavian design philosophy.
