Although no one would ever even imagine that an object of this kind could look attractive, this beautiful geometric object is nothing more than a smoke detector. The Kupu 10 detector is an upgraded version of the Kupu detector designed by Harri Koskinen for Finnish brand Jalo. The Helsinki-based company specialises in aesthetically pleasing household objects manufactured to save lives. The Kupu 10 photoelectric (optical) sensor takes the form of a fabric-clad flattened cuboid with rounded corners and is available in a range of modern colours to suit any interior. The surface of the sensor, unlike other smoke alarms, reacts entirely to smoke. The detector is powered by a rechargeable battery with a 10-year warranty, has an alarm with a volume of 85dB and can operate in humidity of up to 90%, at temperatures of 0°C-45°C. It also has European Union safety certificates.
