Dotty Wall clock

The colourful, self-adhesive dots, available in any paper shop, have been 'following' artist Abi Alice around for a long time, and she has finally tamed them and made them part of her new project for Alessi - the Dotty clock. The dial is made of epoxy-coated steel, and its only decoration is the hour, minute and second hands, finished on both sides with dots of different sizes. The appearance of the sundial also alludes to the artist's other interests - namely ancient clocks and their dials, based on observations of the solar system, and in particular to the appearance of one of the first astronomical clocks in Europe - the Astarium clock designed by Giovanni da Dondi.
