Mormor Blue Bowl

The Mormor collection designed by Gry Fager is a collection of dinnerware with a distinctly Scandinavian character. "Mormor" is Danish for "Grandmother" and the tableware series refers precisely to the traditional, simple Scandinavian shapes that Danes remember from their grandmothers' kitchens. The designer has also used an interesting trick in an attempt to give the material from which the tableware was created a double identity. Both the distinctive grid of the Blue part and the unique textures of the Ribbed and Squared vessels refer to the fabrics traditionally used in Danish kitchens, so that the porcelain takes on some of the characteristics of the textiles.
The small bowl presented here is from a part of the collection called Mormor Blue, which is decorated with a blue checkered pattern. The vessel is characterised by its squat shape and walls perpendicular to the base, only gently rounded at the junction with the bottom. The Mormor Blue bowl will be the perfect addition to a strict Scandinavian interior design. Elements of the Blue, Ribbed and Squared collections can be combined for a unique effect.
